We are very happy and grateful that you have chosen our distribution. In this wiki you will find the necessary information to successfully use the operating system and collaborate in its development.

Keep in mind that we are just starting out, so things are still incomplete.

About Pulsar OS

Pulsar OS began to be developed out of the need to have a Linux distribution with Mac and Windows-type flavors that really replicated the design, but were at the same time stable, usable and open-source.

Editions

Pulsar OS aims to distribute two versions:

• Tahoe: The macOS-type version, whose name matches the name of the latest macOS.
• WinTux: The Windows-type version, whose development has not yet begun.

Contribute

In this documentation you will find the necessary information to know how to contribute to the development of Pulsar OS. We are interested in any help you can provide, whatever your background, role or job. Pulsar OS aspires to be 100% community-based.

Current status

We recently switched to Arch Linux to have a distribution that would support our 2025 computers with hybrid graphics architecture. But Arch is really a mess, and we get everything from .debs. Until now we had not thought about Debian Testing, which we knew about. That is why we are considering that each flavor will be divided into 3 releases:

• Stable: For older computers.
• Forky: For new computers.
• Testing: For a rolling-release format (more difficult to maintain in the face of changes, as happened with KDE Plasma).

Obviously, it is going to be based on Debian. Ubuntu is the Windows 11 of Linux and Arch is a mess. On the contrary, if anyone wants to extend support to Arch or thinks this approach is wrong, please join the Discord or Matrix and comment — we would be happy to see other opinions.
